Second Grade Curriculum

Vision: To consolidate the knowledge acquired in first grade, deepening Islamic values and promoting the students' overall development, preparing them to face new academic and social challenges.

Learning Areas

Spanish

Demonstrate communicative competence to express and understand ideas, thoughts, and feelings through various language forms. Utilize different communicative resources to achieve effective communication. Develop a critical and active attitude towards messages received through mass media. Produce oral texts with correct pronunciation and intonation. Cultivate the habit of reading as a means of expression, information, and pleasure. Produce varied texts related to diverse communicative situations. Apply basic grammatical elements to achieve effective communication. Enjoy literature by reading and discussing literary works.

Social Studies

Develop skills in drawing and using simple maps and plans of the surrounding environment. Contribute to the care and conservation of the community's geographical landscape. Differentiate between the customs, habits, and ways of life of our ancestors and those practiced today, highlighting their value in contemporary life. Develop a sense of responsibility, courtesy, and good manners in interactions within the family, school, and community. Practice survival skills to act effectively in case of natural disasters and road safety. Value the national symbols of Panama and other cultural manifestations as representative expressions of our nationality.

English

Develop basic language skills to maintain interest and confidence in spoken language. Develop perseverance in practicing their abilities and skills to achieve integrated performance and effective learning. Practice English actively during recreational activities.

Mathematics

Read, write, and count natural numbers up to 1,000, in both ascending and descending order. Apply addition and subtraction (+, -) to natural numbers less than 1,000 to solve real-world problems. Appreciate the importance of natural numbers in solving everyday problems. Use concepts of time and measurement in daily activities. Represent straight lines, curves, geometric shapes, and parts of a region using objects and figures from their surroundings. Describe and represent simple data using graphs and charts.

Science

Recognize that environmental conditions in the home, community, and school contribute to the maintenance and reproduction of various species that can benefit or harm human health and life. Understand the importance of hygiene habits and nutrition for personal and family health to maintain a healthy body and environment. Appreciate natural phenomena and their relationship to environmental characteristics and human activities, taking precautions against these phenomena. Explore the surrounding environment to identify various species and other natural components. Recognize that the Earth is part of the Universe and appreciate its unique characteristics.

Physical Education

Engage in physical and recreational activities to promote overall physical and spiritual development. Reinforce and promote cultural values through recreational activities like dance, folk dances, games, and outdoor activities. Promote physical activity to develop good posture, physical and mental health, and establish healthy habits. Participate in activities aimed at preventing drug use and promoting sexual health.
